Indifferent

New SOEN this Friday!  And a new song to enjoy heading into the album release!!

We are living through a era of systemic neglect and profound personal indifference. While those in power consistently overlook the vulnerable, a secondary crisis is unfolding within as we are becoming a nation of the numb. Even as we witness civilians murdered in cold blood on our own streets, the collective shock that should follow is being replaced by a calculated, digital distance.

The tragedy of the modern world is that we have traded our humanity for the role of the armchair pundit. Instead of mourning, we retreat to our screens to litigate the 'worthiness' of the dead, debating whether a victim deserved their fate based on political alignment or social status. Social media has turned human life into a data point—a fleeting headline to be consumed, critiqued, and then discarded as we scroll to the next distraction.

This indifference is a slow-acting poison. We have built a psychological fortress around ourselves, convinced that as long as the violence doesn't touch our doorstep or affect our personal comfort, it isn't our burden to carry. But when we lose the ability to be moved by the suffering of others, we lose the very thing that holds a society together. We have to ask ourselves: At what point did we decide that silence is an acceptable response to slaughter? When did we become so insulated by our own privilege that we forgot how to be outraged? If we only find our voice when our own blood is in the street, we’ve already lost the world we’re trying to save...... now that's WACKY!

anyway, enjoy this song.

"But nothing feels as good as you

What I say is true

What I say is nothing you can deny

And do I really need you here

Just to ease the fear

That I’m all alone and empty within?

How does someone become so heartless,

Ripping into my chest?

How does someone become so cold and

Indifferent"
