I was there, 400 years ago....

Welcome to Tuesday’s Wacky Music Wednesday!! Take a trip back to your host’s toddler years.  Yeah, like- Joshua’s Awesome age of 3!!  Omg, that was over 40 years ago… oh no, time to grab a bottle of “touch of gray” and touch up the ol’ beard.  Anyway, growing up in the 80s we had a plethora of crazy hilarious teenage/adult films that almost always had the same themes of rebellious teens just wanting to be free of their parents/teachers/camp leaders overbearing grips!!

Films like Goonies, The Lost Boys, Adventures in Babysitting, and even Porky’s depict these kids in situations where they just want to get out and adventure. I had no idea what my teens were going to be like when I was still a punk single digit kid, and I had no idea what my twenties would be like when I was a teen. Coincidentally, I have no idea what triple digits will be like when I finally hit the greatest of aging achievements.

In my early teen years my friends and I would don our gang colours and head to the local riverside park and look for fights.  Well, we pretended to at least. Our group of little badasses with knives duct taped to our handlebars and pockets full of eggs had some pretty rad cassette tapes to accompany us to the desolate MadMaxian wastelands that we would patrol. I loved listening to the music from movies I had grown up watching where the kids in those movies were nearly as badass as we were.

One movie in particular that came out in 1983, was “Up the Academy '' and it starred Ralph Macchio (You know the Karate Kid?) and a group of hilarious child actors. The movie was about a group of troublesome teens that were shipped off to military school by their worried parents.

Take just this one song, “Local Hero” I mean what teenager wouldn’t look up to this guy?  He could get all the girls, he was the coolest guy in the bar, and he was the envy of all the other guys. The movie is awesome, and the soundtrack is even better!  You should check out the entire soundtrack if you want a killer 80s rock tracklist full of rebellious teenage angst to listen to.

Anyway, I hope you’re having a wonderful week and continue to rock on through to the weekend!  Mommy’s alright, Daddy’s alright- they just seem a little weird… SURRENDER!!  SURRENDER!!!  This has been another TWMW with your most badass teenage gangster Joshua host you’ve ever known!
