Running through my veins

Welcome to yet another spooky edition of this week’s Wacky Metal Wednesday of the day!! I’m your ghost with the moist(?), Joshua and I’m here to scare you glare off!  This week we’re taking a quick jaunt down memory lane as we look at my very FIRST experience with the lord of darkness himself, Alice Cooper!

Cooper’s “Poison” was my first ever foray into his library of music, well at least seriously anyway. I’m sure I was rokken out to “School’s out for SUMMER!” on the last day of school in 3rd grade, but Alice’s 1989 release really caught my attention as I was exposed to the MTV era and amazing music videos. ‘89 was full of Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, and Winger, so when a legend like Alice Cooper jumped into the music video generation everyone took notice.

Today we’re pulling a double, not only are we looking at a killer song from a legend, but we’re also looking at the amazing power metal band “POWERWOLF”! Powerwolf has their own variety of haunting songs in their wheelhouse, and always entertain when it comes to balancing dark tones with powerful chords. Earlier this year they released a cover of “Poison” and omg, is it incredible!

I’ve said many times that I enjoy band’s taking classic songs and putting their own spin on them. Changing the overall vibe of a song, creating a sound of their own is one of best ways to enjoy classics. Poison has such a cursed undertone, whether you read it as addiction or a fatal attraction, it’s freakin’ incredible, and the way Powerwolf presents it is perfect. They keep the same signature, the same vibe, but still manage to add a bit more oomph to it. I consider it one of the best covers I’ve heard in a while, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Let me know what you think!  This has been Joshua with yet another WACKY Musix Wednesday signing off!  Have a safe and rokken Halloweenie weekend and Be Kind, you beautiful Kings and Queens! ❤️
