Night Rider

 

Welcome to another round of our favorite mid-week addiction; it’s hump day, and what better way to celebrate the day of humping but with some steamy SAXOPHONE!?  Ok, now we’re already off the rails, what was I talking about again?  OH YEAH, Saxophones!  So what better merger in music is there than gripping guitar riffs and the sweet nostalgia from the 80s vision of the brass futuristic dreamwave world?  This is where the band Dreamwake comes in!  I legit JUST discovered them this morning and I’ll admit- I’m kind of IN LOVE!

Brandishing perfect sax sounds of yesteryear like ‘Men at Work’, ‘Foreigner’, and even a dash of ‘INXS’ in conjunction with powermetal djent seems like an impossible task, but here we are.  Here we F*#%in’ are. Give tracks like “Night Rider” or “Memories” a listen or 10 and then dive in deep to discover more of their work.  You won’t be disappointed. 

The concept seems like a very new theme in metal, but I could see other bands grabbing onto this style and making it their own. It’s crazy to hear something so familiar, yet completely foreign to each other meshing so well. Growling vocals with excellent build, clean chorus that pits themes found in classic ‘Solution .45’ or ‘Scar Symmetry’ somewhat against each other pressing onwards to a completely fresh creation!
