Ready for a sappy WMW? Well, ARE YA!?  This isn’t just some roman grecko tree sap, this is oooey and gooey, so get ready to break dance. I mean does one really break dance when feeling emotional? I feel like I would need about a year of yoga before attempting as I’m sure I’ll blow out my other knee!  Let’s just settle for vibing while grinning like an idiot shall we?

When you meet someone amazing with views, thoughts, and feelings from a different perspective of life, you experience a lot of things that don’t really make sense. At first those ideas or interests seem totally alien, like I know there are things I don’t enjoy, and would have a hard time enjoying. If this perfect person could enjoy this, then why can’t I? Everyone has experiences that mold their interests through childhood and life, why do I dislike certain music, but am attracted to others? 

It should come as no surprise that throughout over years of these silly writings, my favorite types of music aren’t of the universal radio, top 40s hits variety. I love discovering obscure stuff that pops my curiosity. Music has only that one magic formula that can elevate my very being depending on the needs of that moment. When someone you love (or tolerate) shares that music with you, it’s an extension of their inner-being. It’s the classic “I love this, I love you, we should listen to this”.

It’s a slow burn, but I’m finally opening up to different types of music, over time. Which isn’t to say that I’m some kind of music snob, well… I’m a metal snob, and… well, maybe I’ll save that for another WMW! 😉  I just wanted to share a few songs today that my love has introduced me to, and some music that we’ve discovered together that’s totally rad!

“Oh, What a World” - Kacey Musgraves: I discovered this on a random streaming shuffle one morning. I shared it with her, and she said she liked KM, but never heard this one before. It’s a really great song, with a mellow chorus that I could totally see myself laying in the leaves listening to on a sunny fall day!

“Art3mis & Parzival” Gunship. I’ve been a huge fan of Gunship for a while, and when we heard this song we both loved it. We declared her my Art3mis and I her Parzival. Have you ever read “Ready Player One”. It’s one of my favorite reads! ❤️

“Skibidi” - LITTLE BIG! Before all the Skibidi toilet ohio talk, we freak’n discovered the AMAZING LITTLE BIG!! We have laughed at more of their music videos than we care to admit!  I mean how could you not?  Fun-Fact, this link is for a song called “I’m OK” which we LOVE!

“Love you till the end” - How crazy is this that we both know “The Pogues”?  She loves it from one of her favorite tear jerker movies, and I loved it because I love the fucking POGUES!!  I hope I didn’t ruin the movie when I kept saying “I know this song!  THIS IS THE POGUES!”  Evertime it came up during the movie! hahah

“In hell I’ll be in good company” - the Dead fuckin’ South! In an effort to discover country songs that I can get into, I discovered more bluegrass/folk music as a way to kinda meet her in the middle, hahah! The Dead South is a certified banger of a band that we both love.

And finally- “Lalala” by bbno$, which is totally OUT OF MY DAMN WHEELHOUSE of usual songs I’d be into. But we were cruising around downtown Indiana on scooters and stopped to check out this super cool bar-cade to chill with a drink and some arcade games. This music video came up on their big screen TVs and the bass was bouncing through the building. It set an amazing scene that I’ll never forget. Oh, and I get this song stuck in my head way too often!

Without even knowing it, we get each other, even from differing views.
