More Popular than Music....

Welcome to another WMW my music loving master of mayhem! This week I've heard a song through suggestion via spotify, and I find it fascinating. Not necessarily the song itself, but how it connects with different people.  I mean, listen to it-

The song is "More machine than Man" by Pharmacose. I've never heard of Pharmacose prior to this, and I'd say they're somewhere between an electronica version of NIN x KMFDM mixed with some synth and metal. I love that mix, and I'm eventually going to research more of their music and see what they're all about.

Now, before you read any further- PLEASE HAVE LISTENED TO THE ENTIRE SONG!! Then we can continue......

Did you really finish the freak'n song?

Ok, I trust you!  🙂

But, what is it with popular rock/metal bands' creations and their generic universal chorus'? I mean this tune in particular has a pretty creative build on it's way to the chorus/climax but I feel like I've heard the chorus 203093 times in the past in cruddy generic rock songs made by Incubus, Avenged Sevenfold or [insert random 2000/2010s popular bands]  Did you notice it too?  I mean fuck, the way this song has an incredible tekno walk beat that really gets me hyped!  I mean, it immediately drew me in!  But, everything that comes after sadly is a let down.

I dunno, what are your thoughts on this song, and what is wrong with the piles of generirock that's being spewed out via local radio stations?  Aren't radio stations dying? Don't they wonder why people are annoyed with current popular songs? Meh...

Thanks for checking in this week's WMW- I hope the rest of your weeks are amazing!  And we'll see you again!!
