Falafel Fists!
Welcome back to this week's Wacky of Wacky Music Wednesday!! I want something really WACKY to tantalize you with this week! So we're jumping into the odd world of Igorrr (3 Rs) to shushsper sweet nothings to our ear canals. Have you experienced it yet? I'm not sure how to recommend it as it's so SO very out there... You'd really need to be in a "mood" for something truly bizarre. So, let's take a look shall we;
Gautier Serre, better known by his stage name Igorrr, is a French musician. Under the Igorrr alias, he combines a variety of disparate genres, including black metal, baroque music, breakcore, and trip hop, into a singular sound. Serre is also part of the groups Whourkr and Corpo-Mente
I'd guess that a lot of words found in the music of Igorrr/Corpo-Mente/Öxxö Xööx do not even have meanings behind them - there's most likely a lot of "filler" words between the actual words with meanings. Because you know, the point of using a made-up language is to not be restricted by pronunciation or syllables when singing.
Igorrr seems to follow the French prog-rock tradition of Zeuhl; (popularized by Magma), where vocals are in a made-up language, basically constructed of phonemes that sound beautiful together. Sometimes represented tongue-in-cheek as some far future human language, or from a space-alien species.
In some instances, word definitions and grammars were worked-out, and some bands (like Magma) even had complicated epic narratives behind them.
But this is really just a feature of this particular French avant garde genre. :)
I heard this 1 hour after it was released! Did you check it out yet? It contains a brilliant mix of bass, percussion, screams/clean vocals and just about every other instrument known to man! What are your ears hearing? How do you feel after hearing this? Are your loins fluttering with intensity? What majik was this? Or, just another Wacky Music Wednesday? Well, either way, I'm your WMW JASH, and I'll be back next time to give your mid-week addiction some stimulation!
