This is CINEMA!
Welcome back to our most WACKY of Musical interests within our very own extended cinematic universes. The SOUNDTRACK of our lives if you will. Our WMW spawns from looking through our CD collection recently and rediscovering just how many movie soundtrack CD's we have. Some nostalgic, some intense, and a few just interesting enough to leave a lasting impression.
MOVIES! I think the very best way to get the widest variety of music in a single drop is collaborations of artists within film soundtracks. I used to seek out movie soundtracks (OSTs) and nab up some killer tracks, discover new bands, and heck go down an even deeper rabbit hole with those individual bands I fell in love with! If it weren't for Mortal Kombat, I'd never have gotten into KMFDM. If it weren't for "I know what you did last Summer" I'd be hard pressed to encounter more of Type 0 Negative's work!
And dear LORD!!! Mortal Kombat the movie was a super fun action movie, but also brought us the MK theme that most don't realize STARTED WITH THE MOVIE! If it weren't for the movie, we would've never been graced by this:
YES!! The AMAZING Street Fighter II anime has a killer fight between Chun Li and Vega that features KMFDM!
One of the best things that emanated from the 90s were in fact movie scores. Not just ANY kind of movie scores, but I'm talkin' rokken soundtracks that were a timestamp of a crazy (and sometimes) forgotten era in music!

Let's smash grab a pile of amazing tunes and reminisce about some crazy cool movies that ushered in a really fun time... AGAIN!!
In 1995, my closest friends and I were SUPER excited for a 3rd entry into the classic Tim Burton Batman series! The early music videos had us so stoked we even went as far to create our very own Batman (JPD) movie! We worked on filming months leading up to the release.*JPD's Batman: The Enemy Within
Sadly, Batman Forever didn't quite live up to our expectations with a new director Joel Schumacher, and even a NEW BATMAN! Even if Val Kilmer did a fine job as Bruce, the movie as a whole was a bit more flashy and silly for my taste. Either way, at least we had an amazing "Summer of the Bat" in 1995, AND that soundtrack was pretty fantastic!Pantera's Caged in a Rage is about as rare a track as you can find from them! (And a f*ck'n awesome song too!) With Dimebag on vocals! And weirdly enough this was exclusive to an awesome Jackie Chan movie called "Supercop"! I grabbed this soundtrack after seeing the movie in theaters!

The movie came out AFTER Mortal Kombat II was already released in arcades and heading home to SNES/Genesis. So yeah, the whole soundtrack is something of a legend to behold. Just dive into some of these tracks!!
Yeah, that's KMFDM!!
So, wait... Was KMFDM in both Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter!?! Holy crap, was KMFDM the soundtrack of the 90s!?
YES!! The AMAZING Street Fighter II anime has a killer fight between Chun Li and Vega that features KMFDM!
Damn, I miss the crackle and snaps of movie theaters on film, just chillin' with your best friends, grabbing a bucket of popcorn and kicking back to watch true cinema. Sigh, I guess you really CAN go back! Via watching old movie clips on youtube, sure, but still! I'm glad you're here now, and I'm glad I get to share these cool tunes with you!! Have an awesome week, and we'll be back again next time for another WACKY MUSIC WEDS!!! <3
