A Darkcity Haze

Sometime around the late 90s I discovered (through various avenues) a cool dude, that loved silly obscure video games (almost as much as I do) and was an awesome DJ. He created original music and mashed up fantastic mixes that to this day have rarely seen an equal. 

Welcome back to a wacky Wednesday with a smidge of vapors, I hope to your liking!  We're taking a mini-deep dive into DARKCITYPRODUCTIONS to bring you- ElectroHaze! A few samplings of killer tracks, cool music to vibe to and a mini story about our meetings!

By 1999, I had fried my computer and had no real connections to the cool people of the 'Net.  That was.. until I discovered the Web Browser disc that came packed with the newly released Sega Dreamcast!  I spent tireless evenings chatting with folks online exploring the innocent world wide web (WWW). I shared stories, built friendships, and had lots of laughs. Finding like-minded folks all around various forums for old games. One such friend was Haze.. ermm electrohaze.. er Tim!  Yeah, Tim!

I shared a ton of gaming memories with guys like Tim, and even made some very close friends with a few peeps that would make trips (or I'd go meet them) to gaming events near me to hang out and game it up! We started bringing games out, have a few drinks, kick back and make memories. However, Tim moved to Japan, and finding middle ground for a meetup was likely impossible..

...Until 2020!  I finally took a trip to the JIPANGS and got to hang out!  He showed me around his town, we travelled by bike all over to the seaside, up mountains and explored various magical places!  It was easily the most beautiful trip I've ever taken, and I can't wait to go back!

Of all the elements of connections between cool people, he and I both have love for gaming (primarily the trusty Turbografx) and music!  The fact that Haze mixes turbo games, makes this connections even cooler! We started chatting over late nights staring at glowing rectangles, sharing musical interests and listening to some of his newest mixes (a few were shared above!). You should be listening to them now, they're amazing!  --I'd imagine ever more amazing if you've got an affinity for VGM (Video Game Music)! ;) 

Every once in a while Haze will stream over twitch, and if we're lucky, he'll even save the replay and upload to youtube!  Below, I share a recorded stream of his that I LOVE to go back to from time to time to chill out, study, or work with in the background. Definitely worthy of a listen and ya'll should check it!
