Have a listen? - A JJ2 Post
I've been in a bit of a music valley recently, mainly getting new stuff through Spotify's weekly personal playlists. Alas - this is not enough for me, so I turn to shuffling my 7626 liked songs, bringing back some fantastic songs that I haven't heard in a really long time.
This isn't so much a WMW, more like a 'Hey man, here's some neato tunes I've been boppin to recently!' Hope you enjoy one or two
First is 'Days Go By - London' by VUUR. Really cool single from this band that seems to only have put out one album in 2017 (although I think this is more of a project band from the lead singer Aneeke van Giersbergen, who has performed with Devin Townsend in the past!) Musically, the song is both operatic and heavy at the same time, which really gives a lot of Iron Maiden mixed with Soen. Very fun bop!
Next up is 'Tape' by Chat Pile. This band has quickly become one of my favorite newer bands on the scene, and I don't even know what genre they play. They're crushingly heavy while provocatively thoughtful with their themes and song content. This one in particular feels haunting, with both the music and the lyrics suggesting something that should never have been seen by anybody.
Last is 'Ked Stareho Bartolina Ze Senku Na Tackach Zvazali' by Malokarpatan. The title translates to 'When they were carting old Bartolin from the pub on a wheelbarrow', and the song tells a funny but sad story of an older guy who's wife dies and decides to drown his sorrows in alcohol to the point where the bar owner has some of the townsfolk carry him home in a wheelbarrow. This is one of my favorite songs from Malokarpatan, a Slovakian black metal band, full of all of the typical Malokarpatan stuff: catchy riffs, tight but chaotic drumming, and the best black metal vocals of any band I've listened to. The vocalist doesn't sing, or scream, or even growl. No, he announces the lyrics over the crazy instrumentals. It literally sounds like he's at the top of a tower, proclaiming things to listeners below. Very unique sound, would extremely recommend!
So uh, yeah, there was some neato tunes I've been boppin to recently! Hope you have a great one, make sure to take care of yourself and listen to good music during these insane times! <3 ;)
