Cake at the Witching Hour
It's wacky week's like this where I wonder to myself... Have I ever listened to music? Heck, have I ever written a blog before? Am I broken? How did I miss so much!? Anyway, check out these links, hit play on some rad ass music while you read, or don't I don't care! ;)
Find out more about Murdered Crows and support the artist here!!
Sitting with an open canvas to be creative, to cling to that moment of brilliance (Self aware brilliance I guess?) and create cool stuff. It's magical, but you know what's even more magical!? Having great music to vibe to alongside you. It's like, the music motivates, and you're doin' stuff, it's almost a team effort!! Man, and this week's WACKY MUSIC is a deep dive into wack!
Introducing- Murdered Crows (Check out the bandcamp above, or listen to some youtube links below*) I used to think goth was like Type 0 Negative or End of Green (Which, I guess is kind of the same deathy/anti-establishment style) but really, more metal/heavy rock than punk or goth. So I'm confused, is goth more or less an open genre, that's loosely based on anti-label? I need answers...
A few years ago (Almost a decade as of this writing?) I ran across a pretty fuckin' talented individual. A gamer, a game developer, writer, and music writer/recorder! Honestly, it's fascinating how someone can literally just pick up an interest and be incredibly good at it! That's what I feel anyway, it's people like this that I hate, haha- So what do you do? Oh, I've made video games on the coolest fucking ancient hardware out there, and I made the music, and I write books. *Ok, fuck you!*
* - Not Murdered Crows, but badass music in a similar genre
Xmal Deutschland's 'Polarlicht'
What was I talking about? Oh yeah- the goth/punk scene, anywho after a few conversations and recommendations I quickly realized just how much I didn't understand (and likely still don't). It's more or less dark punk 80s/90s moody rock. Like the Cure, Sisters of Mercy, and The Damned. I'm slowly started to dip my toes into this, it's honestly been a breath of mildewy/basementy fresh air, haha! but seriously, super radical tunes to go along with your creations, your goth creations? I dunno, maybe whatever you'd like- I wouldn't consider myself goth necessarily, but I still enjoy the ambient themes.
Edinburgh Twisted Nerve's 'Medusa'
Also by the talented lead singer is an awesome book *Caught in the Moonlight* I read last year. Listening to some of the music mentioned on these pages also clicked with me, weirdly, I never enjoyed the punk/goth much growing up, and now I'm kind of confused as to how it slipped through my fingers. I guess I'll just try to wrap my small brain around it as an old fuck.
Southern Death Cult's 'Moya' (Original Version)
Have your cake and eat that shit! I'mma head out again, I hope your mid-week's are all amazing, and I'll be back NEXT WEEK just in time for another Wacky ass Wednesday!! haha, I'm your pal, JASHY, and I'll see you then!
