Can you Feel It?

Instrumentals in rock often go unnoticed or under-appreciated. Some great acts that I've seen live, like Animals as Leaders or The Omnific (Pictured below with my wife and I!!) I remember falling in love nearly 30 years ago with The Liquid Tension Experiment put together by Mike Portnoy and John Petrucci of Dream Theater fame. Ever since then I've been hooked on the entire sub-genre itself! Honestly, it was likely around this time that I started to understand that vocalists were just one part or instrument in bands. You can have a singer, or not- great music can persist regardless!

The OMNIFIC in 2023

One amazing concert we went to was around November of 2023, when we went to see Ne Obliviscaris. One of the opening acts was The Omnific and we fell in love instantly. It was literally 3 or 4 songs into their set when my wife turned to me and said "Wait, they don't have a singer!?" She loved it and was fully immersed into the moment without even realizing there was no singer!

Full Circle by "The Omnific"

One of my favorite instrumental acts are "Polyphia"! An incredible act lead by Tim Henson and Scott LePage with two Clay's one named Gober and another named Aeschliman. Insanely complex guitar pluckings along with super radical transitions of style. They most recently hit us up with the controversial "Can you Feel it?" track that is both controversial in style (a very eclectic dance/trance style IN ADDITION TO VOCALS!!?) as well as the music video topics and political commentary. Well... just watch it for yourself. Wanna feel gross about our country and world affairs?  Let's go!!
