On the Horizon
2025 is shaping up to be a great year! FOR MUSIC.. omfg, I'm talking MUSIC here guys! Dear lord, outside of this blog, and other amazing contributors to my musical sanity each week, the world is kind of a shit show! But, let's NOT get political, let's talk 2025 METAL RELEASES!!
New albums planned to release this year by; Killswitch Engage, Architects, Electric Callboy, Korpiklaani, Avantasia, Spiritbox, Whitechapel, Bloodywood, Lordi, Imperial Triumphant, Underoath, Deafhaven, Allegaeon, Epica, Eluveitie, Behemoth, Bury Tomorrow, Rivers of Nihil, Buried Realm all have albums with release dates this year already set. And we know Soilwork, Amorphis, Avatar, Avantasia, Disarmonia Mundi, King Diamond, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Megadeth, and Lacuna Coil, Mercyful Fate are all working on albums that could release this year as well.I mean, HOLY CRAPOLA! LOOK AT THAT LIST!! So, what do we have here then? Some of the greatest of all times, hyping up some upcoming releases!? Let's grab a seat, sit back and listen to some of these offerings then ya?
Rivers of Nihil's House of Light is absolute perfection! It's EXACTLY what we want to hear from them. Signature sounds, epic transitions and perfect balance from beginning to end. Their new album should be incredible. This is coming off their pretty good 2021 offering "The Work" It feels like with this single song, they got their story back on track.
Every Allegaeon release is a major event, and should be treated with respect and focus. "Driftwood" is another teaser into what is looming for these legendary metallers! Give it a listen.
AVANTASIA's "The Witch" gave me all the chills. I'm so excited to hear more work with Tommy Kerevik from Kamelot. I love hearing project work like this taking elements of some of the best acts in music! Ugh, just listen to this one! The chorus is perfect!
Also, here's a bonus band to dive into. Do you like humor? Do you like laughing in the face of dire despair and sadness? Well- NANOWAR has always been the hilarious take on an otherwise serious genre of rock.
"Hello World.java" takes our manic world of coding and combines it with classic power metal. What could possibly go wrong!? Hhahahaha, I love finding out that the obviously talented rock stars are also themselves super nerds. NANOWAR has transcended every potential topic that they could cover at this point... Like, seriously, if they do a song about the Turbografx-16 game library I'm pretty sure I've died and gone to metal heaven.
