Supremacy: Machinae
Welcome back to a crazy Wacky Music Wednesday! I had this distant memory while writing up my Huelsbeck post last week about the band Machinae Supremacy! Long before creating retro style games for PC or new game systems was cool, a TINY little band did this incredible soundtrack for a shoot 'em up called Jets 'n' Guns. The year was 2004, and we were in the thick of the 128-bit wars, IE- Playstation 2 vs. Xbox vs. GameCube (and for a little while 'vs Dreamcast!)
Jets 'n' Guns was basically a crazy shooter for fans of games like Lords of Thunder and Gate of Thunder. A perfect combination of twitch reflexes and heavy metal! The action is just as heavy as the music, try a sweet sampling of some of the tracks!
Check out a couple tracks from this great game! Well, I'm not exactly sure if it's a "Great Game" by my gaming skills. I suck at this game, it's hard as balls, and I can barely get to the 2nd stage! Let me be clear, I'm ok at shoot 'em ups, I've cleared a few! So if this game is hard to me, it's legit hard!!"Rake in Grass" was the dev studio that created Jets 'n' Guns, and sought out Machinae Supremacy to make the game music, and it's no short of a masterpiece in my opinion! But.. Who is Machinae Supremacy? Do they do other songs? Are they a band? Or just VGM composers?
OH, THEY'RE A BAND ALL-RIGHT! And a pretty damn good one at that!
This one is one of my favorites of theirs after digging down a spotify rabbit hole years ago. I think they're amazing at instrumentals/jam sessions AND rock some pretty cool songs overall, and aww heck- since I'm in such a gaming mood, I thought I'd share these tracks with you here!
Thanks for fangin' and bangin' this week for another WACKY moosik Weds! I'm Joshua, and I'll keep the lights on for ya! ;)
