Another Galaxy...
The planet was different growing up. We had less connection to information. We were given only a smattering of options from our parents on "stuff to do" It was, go outside and play, read a book, study, or get on a rocket ship and go to school on an asteroid in the middle of space! A FAR OUT PLACE!!
I knew these two groovy kids that took the first steps in intergalactic education and blipped off into space to attend this radical school. Amy and Doyle, man their adventures in this school were so cool! You believe me right? Of course, I could only be speaking of the amazing Saturday morning cartoon called "Galaxy High", which was absolutely my favorite of the cartoon line up each day. The show was even co-produced and the first episode was written by Chris Columbus! Yeah, the same dude that in 1492 voyaged across the Atlantic initiating widespread European exploration and colonization of the Americas and totally not the director of Home Alone's 1&2 and the first two Harry Potter movies!
What the hell are we here to even talk about today on this WACKY of WEDNESDAYS anyway? Oh yeah! A SONG! A far out song, that really sets the tone for a pretty rad show! The Galaxy High theme song is like 69 seconds of pure bliss, and you should definitely check it out! It's the one cartoon theme that always stands out in the back of my mind. Through COUNTLESS other show themes that I loved like He-Man, Transformers, D&D, Jem, GI Joe, M.A.S.K. and even GO BOTS!! Now that I think of it, M.A.S.K. is probably the best theme song ever! It's so badass!
Interestingly enough, the Galaxy High theme song has some actual musical chops as Don Felder (lead guitarist from the Eagles) wrote and produced the theme!Oh, and who doesn't love covers! With how little known (or remembered) Galaxy High is it's pretty rare to find remixes or covers of this tune. That is something that should be remedied! But, I did scrounge up an 8-bit NES cover for fun! Kind of cool to imagine what a game could've sounded like.
Digging a little bit into some of my older writeups, I actually did share a link (as a bonus) on this Theocracy WMW talking about what I considered to be THE very best classic animated show theme song. It's freak'n stellar, and M.A.S.K. rules!! Not enough love for that show either!
